How Experts Accelerate Wound Healing

All patients suffering from wounds wait impatiently for healing. Many don’t know that Alpha Wound Experts can significantly accelerate wound healing through targeted treatment. Of course, wound healing times depend on the type of wound as well as the patient’s general condition and lifestyle habits.

Our Wound Healing Service in Berlin

Learn about us and the possibilities that modern wound management offers.

  • During the personal wound visit, we document the condition of the wound and create a plan for optimal care.
  • We procure the necessary materials to care for wounds of all kinds according to the latest medical findings.
  • Our experts advise and train you in wound treatment so that you are able to support us in the care.

Complications such as a pressure ulcer (decubitus) are not uncommon because the patient has to lie down for a long time. Our wound nurses from Brandenburg and Berlin also care for such wounds.

Primary Wound Healing and Secondary Wound Healing

Professionals speak of primary wound healing when a wound can be closed. Often, after initial care, no further wound care is required, as they heal on their own. The main goal is to achieve an aesthetic and minimally disruptive scar.

When wounds cannot be closed, it is called secondary wound healing. This requires complex wound care.

The Phases of Wound Healing Simply Explained

  • The Cleansing Phase: Immediately after a wound occurs, a process of “physiological cleansing” begins. The wound frees itself from dead, damaged tissue. Often, a yellowish fibrin layer forms on chronic wounds, which requires appropriate local treatment.
  • The Granulation Phase: In this phase, the repair process begins. Countless small granulation buds form, which gradually fill the wound. The red, shiny appearance results from intense collagen production and the formation of new blood vessels that replace the destroyed capillaries.
  • Epithelialization Phase: The wound closes through imperceptible contractions. It appears drier and gradually new, initially pink and thin skin forms. This covers the wound and becomes a scar.  The scar often remains lighter than the rest of the skin because no melanin is formed in the cells yet. For this reason, you must not expose the new epidermis to the sun in the weeks after healing.

Tips for Wound Healing After Surgery

Tips for Wound Healing After Surgery

Surgical wounds are special. They are usually unusually deep but created under hygienic conditions. As long as they are closed with stitches, staples, or tissue adhesive, they usually heal quickly and without complications.

Sometimes wounds are intentionally left open to facilitate the drainage of certain fluids (especially blood or pus) by means of a drain. These wounds require intensive care for wound healing. Our Alpha Wound Experts pay special attention to signs of infection in these wounds.

How You Can Accelerate Internal Wound Healing After Surgery

  • Cover the fresh wound with a waterproof dressing when showering and do not take baths.
  • Avoid intensive physical training in the days after the surgical procedure, as the wound could reopen as a result.
  • Pay attention to a healthy lifestyle. Refrain from smoking and alcohol.
  • Do not expose the scar to the sun and do not use tanning beds.

Conditions for Extremely Fast Wound Healing

Whether a wound heals quickly or slowly depends largely on your physical constitution. With a pre-existing condition such as epidermolysis bullosa, rapid healing cannot be expected. Additionally, for example, large-area burns heal worse than a simple cut.

Healthy young people who lead a healthy lifestyle have the best chance of extremely fast wound healing.

Promoting Wound Healing in Cases of Poor Wound Healing

Generally, poor wound healing can be expected with pressure ulcers (decubitus), diabetic foot, and venous leg ulcers. The Alpha Wound Experts not only care for the wound but also try to counteract the cause.

Accelerating Wound Healing Through Moist Wound Healing

We try to keep the wound moist through creams and suitable dressing materials. This reduces the risk of scab formation and prevents scar formation.
